QR Codes: Love ’em? Hate ’em? Still Wondering what on Earth they Are?

Earlier this year we hurried to finish our mobile website (get on your smartphone and visit the mobile site here!) because we know smartphone users are multiplying like mad. It’s estimated that by 2014, 58.3% of US adults will use smartphones and, thankfully, they’ll be able to visit and navigate Combined Properties’s website, no problem!

Around the same time, we wondered if we should be part of the QR Code phenomenon. These mobile barcodes were the latest, greatest marketing trend and we wanted to use them to promote our available properties. But the feedback of whether people are actually scanning the codes seems mixed.

According to this article published earlier this week by E-Marketer Online, use of QR codes will grow as smartphone use grows – makes sense! But research also shows that 60% of those who scanned QR Codes only did so one time. The article also explains that consumers want deals and discounts, while companies tend to deliver information.

We want to hear from you. Do you scan QR codes? Did you try it just once and move on? Will people eventually take to scanning or will the trend fade into a distant “remember those weird looking codes” tech memory?

Never scanned a QR code? Download a free QR Reader from your mobile app store, and make our website your first scan! We really should be offering a deal here, according to what the E-Marketer article tells us, but for now give our regular site a go!
