New MBTA Green Line Station Will Be Called Medford/Tufts

The new extension of the MBTA Green Line has a name. “Medford/Tufts” will be the name of the new Green Line station located at College Avenue and Boston Avenue on the Tufts University campus in Medford.

The Green Line currently makes its final stop at Lechmere Station, allowing passengers to exit and make their way into Cambridge toward office spaces, residences and the CambridgeSide Galleria Mall.

The Green Line Expansion project will extend the line to communities north of Boston, including Somerville, Cambridge and Medford. The project includes plans for 6 new Green Line stations along two branches, as well as a relocation and reconstruction of the Lechmere Station. The two new branches from Lechmere station will be called the Medford Branch and the Union Square Branch.
