October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Combined Properties staff gets decked out in pink shirts and jeans, doing their part to raise awareness and funds in support of a cure. This cause hits especially close to home for Combined Properties, as it does for so many. In a gesture of solidarity, the pink ladies of Combined Properties stand united, donating the monies raised today to Lee National Denim Day: one cause, one cure. For over seven years Combined Properties served as an active development partner for the Malden YMCA, overseeing fundraising, design, and construction of the new facility. John Pereira, president, was chairman of the capital campaign, building committee, and board of directors for five years. The new $15 million Malden YMCA is twice the size of the previous facility and membership has increased 9 times over. Malden’s YMCA features a 6-lane lap pool, 3-lane shallow therapy pool, teen center, preschool and school age child care centers, a full size gymnasium, indoor running track, fitness center, cardio center, senior fitness center, indoor handball courts, and a rich variety of community programs.

A visit to Combined Properties’s office on a Friday will reveal a casual look for employees. Jeans are typical on Fridays, but the casual dress code doesn’t come without a price – one that employees are pleased to pay! Jeans mean support for local charities and recent individual employee donations have supported the following organizations:
- Animal Rescue League of Boston
- For the Love of Dog
- Italian Home for Children
- Melrose Grad Night
- St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
- The Wicked Awesome Project
- Partners in Health/Haiti
- American Cancer Relay for Life
- Fisher House Boston/ Recovering Soldiers & Families
- Alzheimer’s Day
- Lee National Denim Day/Breast Cancer
- Mystic Valley Elder Services’ Elder Independence Fund
- First Church of Nazarene/ Thanksgiving dinner
- Soldiers Home/ Purchased list of items needed
- Children’s Hospital Mile for Miracles
- Run to Homebase
Employees continue to wear jeans on Fridays and look forward to making donations to deserving charities!
